Glenfarclas means "Glen of the Green Grassland" or in English "Valley of the Green Grassland". This name refers to the origin of the unique Glenfarclas 12 Years Old Speyside Single Malt, the Scottish Highlands. This area offers ideal conditions for the production of whisky, which is why numerous distilleries have settled there over the years. Among them is the Glenfarclas Distillery, which was founded in 1836 and is now run by the sixth generation.
The Glenfarclas 12 Years Old Speyside Single Malt is distilled in the traditional Speyside style. It then matures for twelve years in former Oloroso sherry barrels, which are personally selected by the master distillers in a bodega in Spain. On the nose, Glenfarclas 12 Years Old Speyside Single Malt is spicy and sweet, with a distinct sherry note. On the palate it unfolds its rich and full flavour, with smoky notes of peat, wood, honey and some sherry. It has a medium length finish, with hints of oak.
