The triple-aged Dos Maderas Rum PX 5 + 5 is based on sugar cane from the Caribbean, which thrives magnificently in the tropical climate and is of excellent quality. This is processed into high-quality sugarcane molasses and used for the production of Dos Maderas PX 5 + 5. This is followed by an elaborate maturing process: First the rum rests for five years in selected American oak barrels in the Caribbean. Afterwards it is transported to Spain and transferred into sherry barrels in which the Palo Cortado Sherry "Dos Cortados (VOS 20 years)" matured. After another three years, it is bottled in Pedro Ximénez barrels, which previously contained the 20-year-old "Don Guido". There the Dos Maderas Rum PX 5 + 5 gets its final touch during two years.
Optically the Dos Maderas Rum PX 5 + 5 captivates by its reddish-brown shining to mahogany-dark amber colour. In the nose it smells sweetly of caramel, honey and sherry. Cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg and marzipan are added. On the palate spices, tropical fruits, roasted aromas are noticeable, refined with soft sherry notes. Plums, dates and honey round off the excellent impression on the palate. The finish is long, sweet, persistent and well-balanced, with spicy tones and sherry.
