For the production of the noble Grappa St. Magdalener Barrique only selected marcs of the Vernatsch and Lagrein varieties are used. Distillation takes place in water-bath heated distillation apparatus. After distillation, the Grappa St. Magdalener Barrique undergoes at least 18 months of storage in French oak barriques. This production step harmoniously rounds off its taste profile. The result is a full-bodied, characteristic Grappa with distinct wood notes and a delicate aroma of dried fruit and vanilla.
The single-variety Grappa St. Magdalener Barrique bears the South Tyrolean quality mark. This plaque is only awarded to products of particularly high quality that meet the strict test criteria.
