Ukiyo Yuzu Citrus Gin is distilled from Japanese shochu spirit, a rice-based distillate. The Ukiyo distillery is located in the Kagoshima prefecture of Japan and is well known for the production of local spirits. Ukiyo means "flowing world" and symbolises the moment of living in the here and now from the Edo period in Japan (1600 - 1867). When distilling the Shochu spirit distillate, ingredients such as juniper, yuzu, citrus fruits and local botanicals are used. The Japanese and very popular yuzu citrus fruit is processed according to a 1500-year-old tradition, from cultivation to harvest. This makes its aroma, which is characterised by citrus flavours, wonderfully tart and intense.
